A few days before we headed to Charleston, I looked on the internet for stuff to do. I found that we could do a tour of Fort Sumter, which involved a ferry ride out to the Fort. I thought that would be fun for the kids because they've never been on a boat before. I was also picturing a cool Fort with mazes and bunks where the soldiers slept and everything. Which is not what it was. Kelly is a big history buff. I am whatever the opposite of that is. I'm horrible at history. I didn't even know which side was the Union and which side was the Confederate when we went on the tour. I know, that's super pathetic.
So I don't have much to comment on these pictures. Kelly, feel free to edit this post and say what these things are.
This is just a bridge that I thought was cool. It had nothing to do with Fort Sumter.
On the ferry.
The fort as we got near the ferry.
A cannon.
Cason standing on something. He thought it was a sandbox. He was disappointed to not find any sand.
Looking out a window like thing.
Cason opted to skip the stairs and climb this hill. And then turn and get mad at me for going up the stairs and yelling at me. Then trying to come back down the hill, tripping, and lay there crying until I went and got him. And picked the burrs out of his shorts.
Cason pretending to read. He kept asking me "am I tall enough to read this?"
Bryce was so tired he fell asleep just walking around.
Of course we found another water fount walking around a mall later that day.
And we ended the day with the best thing of all -- pizza! Yes, we had pizza four times in ten days. We like pizza, what can I say? This was Mellow Mushroom. Kelly thought it was the best of our trip. I thought it was really good but it came in a close second to Kings (where we ate Monday and Wednesday). But I might have been pizza'd out so it might not be a fair comparison. This pizza was for me and the kids, I like just sausage. Kelly got a smaller, more adventurous pizza.
