Another pumpkin farm

Kelly is out of town today and Saturdays are usually the most boring day of the week when he is gone. I was trying to think of something to do this morning and the best I could come up with was Sam's Club. Thrilling. Then Kelly reminded me of a pumpkin farm we checked out two years ago. It is really close to Sam's Club so it worked out perfectly plus it's gorgeous outside. Check here to see how much Cason has grown in two years.

I'm not working too hard on learning my camera in manual so it's no surprise that I didn't take great pictures this morning. There are a few of Rycie that would have been adorable had his face been in better focus.

Apparently it was Cason's mission to NOT look at me at all this morning.





Don't let the cute pictures of Rycie fool you. He actually hated this pumpkin farm too. There were only about 12 minutes the whole time we were there that he was happy and wasn't being held. Secret pumpkin phobia maybe?

Fall Festival

My mom came to visit last weekend. The boys had a great time with her and Kelly and I were happy to leave them with her and sneak off on our own. Kelly and I went out to dinner (alone!) two nights in a row. We went to a Halloween/birthday party for a friend. We ended up being the ONLY people to show up to the party without a costume. Lesson learned! We need to get creative next time and come up with fun costumes to wear. We went to a fun HalloWOD CrossFit event to meet up with and do a workout with CrossFitters from some other nearby affiliates, which was a blast. We also got out and went to a movie.

On Tuesday night, we got the kids dressed up in their costumes and went to a fall festival that a local church puts on every year. We were lucky that it cooled down enough that they could actually wear their costumes, it had been in the 80's almost every day up until Tuesday.

When someone visits, that means that I get to squeeze in the backseat between car seats. Good times! Cason is a blue triceratops for Halloween. *Edited because Kelly wanted to say that Cason is a QUADceratops since his costume has a random 4th horn* We drew whiskers and a nose on Rycie so Cason wanted some face paint too. That is why he has spots on his face.







Rycie was NOT shy at all! He knew just what to do and walked right up to every game to play and collect his candy.







He was all about putting his candy in his pumpkin and didn't ask to eat any until we left and Cason got to eat some.





Cason was not as into the games this year. He only tolerated them because he realized that was the only way he was going to get candy.

Kelly's first triathlon

One of Kelly's New Year's goals this year was to complete a triathlon. When we found out about one close to where we live, he had to sign up. This particular one was a sprint triathlon, so it was a shorter one. It involved a 300 meter swim, 12 mile bike ride, and 3.1 mile run. We learned a lot about the ins and outs of triathlons and I learned how to spell the word triathlon (apparently I've been saying it wrong all these years? TriathAlon?)

Kelly really enjoyed the different kind of competition and he'd like to do more in the future. He wants to train more specifically for the next event though. He didn't even get his bike down and dust the cobwebs off until Thursday and he hasn't swam much lately. He's also trying to talk me into doing one next year with him but I'm not so sure that doggy paddling would go over well in the swim portion. We've been waiting all day for them to post the results, I'll just have to update this blog entry later this week when we find out his times. I think this one was a good beginners triathlon, it was the first one for about half of the competitors. There were plenty of serious competitors too, they all got to go first.

Pumpkin Patch 2010

We went to the pumpkin patch this morning. Cason has been looking forward to it for weeks. Thank you Lou Ann for the cute Halloween shirts for the boys! Here are a few (dozen) pictures.

I'm not sure what was wrong with Bryce the first half of the trip but he did not want to be set down at all.















I really wanted to get a picture of the boys in the wagon together like I did last year but Bryce was having none of it. Instant screaming when we put him in.







We finally got him happy in the wagon and Kelly parked him next to Charlie Brown. Bryce looked over and freaked out. I think all the cut outs were terrifying to him. Poor Rycie!
