Visual learner

I've always been a visual learner. I could memorize almost anything I needed to just by reading it over and over again. I memorized entire chapters of the Bible that way for Bible quizzing as a kid. It was great in grade school and high school, because I think a lot of the teaching is geared towards visual learners. I can't remember too many times we were lectured to back in those days. College was another story. I had to learn a whole new way of learning when I got to college because I couldn't get by just by memorizing stuff I read. But that is an entirely different topic.

Kelly on the other hand is an auditory learner. He remembers so much of what he hears. We will watch a movie one time and days, weeks, or months later be able to quote lines from it perfectly. I can barely even figure out which movie he is quoting. Or we will be talking to someone and they will tell us a story. Sometime later I will try to recall the story and mix a whole bunch of it up or leave out details and Kelly will have to correct me.
Before we had kids, I told Kelly that it would be awesome if our kids got my sense of visual learning with his sense of auditory learning. They would be unstoppable! I don't think that's the case for Cason though, maybe Bryce will have better luck.

Cason seems to be a visual learner, like me. Like how he learned all of his letters of the alphabet at 17-18 months old. But ask him to sing the alphabet and he can only get to the letter G. Or how he has known all of his numbers by sight for months but he's not so good at counting. He also recognizes logos to everything. For at least 6 months now, he has been pointing out the logos for Target (the bullseye), Walmart (the star, although they've changed it, none around us have changed), Kroger, Sam's Club (the arrow), Bank of America, etc. We were in Iowa in July and we drove past a Papa Murphy's and he yelled "pizza!". He goes to the gym with Kelly sometimes so he knows their logo. When we drive past another location of the same chain, he says "Gym and play!"

That's another funny story there. Whenever Kelly takes him to the gym he asks "do you want to go to the gym and play?" So now Cason thinks that is the name of the place, like it's one word. Gymandplay. Same thing with church. We don't go to church, we go to churchandplay.

Well, I guess I don't really have a point. I just think about that a lot so I wanted to write it down somewhere.

Super funny! I also think Bryce looks more like Cason every day. He even has his own little faux hawk going on. :)

That is funny! Collin must be a visual learner too...every time we drive by Nikki's pizza he says, Pizza, or if we get close to church he says, Church..play with friends. Too cute!
