Cleared to land

Well after starting on Bryce's room, we decided that we needed to step up Cason's room.  He wasn't really into the ocean creatures and we were bored with it too.  He has many random fascinations but we thought we would tie a few together by doing a transportation themed room.  This would incorporate his love for airplanes, stop signs, traffic cones, and fire hydrants.  

I ordered this huge vinyl wall decal off etsy.  The airplane landing  and runway takes up the entire back wall and we really love how it turned out.  Shannon (who sold it to us) even threw in some star decals.  She has no idea how perfect that was, with Cason's love of stars.  

The room is a work in progress but I will post more pictures later when we get more done.  Bryce's room is another story!  We bought a second crib and put that in there last night.  We also moved Cason's changing table in.  It seems rather cramped with just those two things so I'm going to figure out how to arrange the furniture before we put anything up on the walls.  Stay tuned!

Favi!

Over the past month or so, Cason has become obsessed with fire hydrants.  We have one directly in front of our house so every time I tell him to get his shoes so we can go, he asks "favi?", which is his word for fire hydrant.  So each time we leave the house, we have to go say hi to the fire hydrant before we leave.  And when we return home, as soon as we turn onto the street before our street, he screams "favi!" just in case I forgot that we have to go see it again before we go inside.  When we go for a walk in the stroller, we have to stop at each fire hydrant along the way if it's on the side of the street we are on.  He broke his previous piggy bank because stupid me let him play with it.  It was ceramic and he dropped it so it shattered.  So I thought he would like this new bank I ordered him, which just came tonight.

Over the past 3 years, Kelly has become quite the health food freak. It started out great, he wanted to get healthier, lose some weight, lower his cholesterol. He managed to do all of that but he really got into it. He spends time almost everyday on menshealth.com and Men's Health is like a second bible to him. As a result, one of his New Year's resolutions is to go out with the family for ice cream once a month. Giggity! We didn't go in January because we ended up eating ice cream at home once and ice cream cake at our friend's house. So last week we decided it was time for our Februrary ice cream and we went out to Marble Slab Creamery one day after Cason's nap.

This was going to be Cason's first time eating ice cream and I just knew he would love it. I brought my camera along to take a picture of him with messy ice cream face to post on here. He hated it. He kept shaking his head "no" and when we managed to get a bite in his mouth, he spit it out. Weirdo. I don't think it was the cold that bothered him because he loves those yogurt tubes straight out of the freezer and he loves frozen blueberries. I was actually glad because I didn't have to share my ice cream and the less sweets he eats, the better. But I'm convinced that he's not my kid. I eat sugar morning, noon, and night. He must have been switched at the hospital.

On the other hand, there is one weird thing he does that he got directly from me. I have a weird fear/hatred of loose hair. Like a hair off my head that is laying on the floor or something. The worst sensation in the world is when I'm in the shower and a strand of hair gets wrapped around my fingers and I can't get it of. I HATE THAT. It also grosses me out to see a random hair on the floor, counter, etc. Well a few weeks ago, Cason started freaking out if there was a hair (mine of course, I'm the only one in the family with much hair) on him. Or if he sees one on the floor or in the bathtub, he freaks out and says "eew" over and over again until I pick it up. I'm pretty sure I have never displayed this type of behavior in front of him so it must be genetic.

After MUCH discussion, we think we have a name for our new baby.  It was hard to agree because I like names that you don't hear everyday and Kelly likes names that everyone has heard of.  His number one criteria is that it can't be unisex.  Wonder why?!  Anyway, the name we have been thinking of is....

Bryce Patrick

I like it because it sounds similar to my maiden name so it's kind of a way to honor my family.  Kelly likes it because it's easy to spell, easy to pronounce, and everyone has heard of it.  Patrick is Kelly's middle name.

So... any feedback?

More sounds

Cason learned how to make a chicken noise this morning so I taped a few more of his sounds.  I still forgot lion.  Oh well.  If you missed the first video, go back a few days.  

I am thankful for...

washable paint!  Cason has painted many times but has never gotten this messy.  I decided that he needed to make Valentine's Day cards for the grandparents and he really got into it.

On a somewhat related note, we love bathtub crayons.  They are Cason's new favorite bath toy.  If you look closely, you can see what Kelly drew last week when he was giving Cason a bath.  He claimed that Cason wouldn't play with him so he was bored.  It is a boat and the name of the boat is S.S. Stinky.

Birthdays!

Okay, just one birthday.  The other is a half birthday.  We'll start with me.  Saturday was my birthday and Kelly got me one of the best presents ever.  He got me a skookie!  Of course we had to try it out right away.

It's two small skillets that you bake a giant cookie in.  After just 12 minutes, you pull them out of the oven and top with ice cream and chocolate syrup!  Yum!

And Friday was Cason's half birthday.  We got his pictures taken because it has been a long time since we have had that done.  Here are a few of our favorites.  I'm not crazy about all the props but I guess it's pretty hard to get an 18 month old to stand still for one second so you do what you gotta do.  

And last but not least the disgusting blue chair.  It looks like they got it at a garage sale but he was obsessed with it and kept climbing in it so they took a couple pictures with it.  Of course he smiled cute so we had to buy one.  

I've been wanting to get Cason's animal sounds on video for awhile and this was the best I could do.  Sorry he keeps going in circles, he wanted to watch the camcorder, not be taped.  A few of his sounds are pretty good but the rest need work:)  I tried to make my version of the sound after him so you could tell what it's "supposed" to sound like.  My favorite is the dolphin.  He has a book with a dolphin in it so I made the sound one day and he tried to copy me.  It sounds more like he's trying to poop, which is why it's so funny.  I just realized that I forgot a few of his animals, like snake and lion.  Oh well.
